There are a lot of things to do in Chefchaouen, such as exploring this enchanting little town by walking through its narrow streets painted with blue and white colors, which will allow you to take some beautiful photographs, visiting its old medina, Ras el Ma, which is the point at which the fresh mountain waterfall seeps its way into the town…
After a delicious lunch at a local restaurant in the famous Plaza Uta el-Hammam. You will have the whole evening to walk on your own. Don’t miss a stunning sunset from the Spanish mosque. Stay the night in the blue city.
DAY 2: Chefchaouen - Sightseeing in Fes
On the second day of our tour, we will leave in the morning after breakfast and hit the road directly to Fes. Our local guide will take you on a day tour of Fes, where we will visit, see, and do a variety of things. To begin, we will go to one of the king’s palaces, which has seven admired golden gates to photograph. Then we will drive you to Borj Nord for a panoramic view. From the top of Fes, you can see the entire city. If you are interested, we can then drive to the mosaic cooperative, which is well-known in Fes.
Following that, we will explore the old Medina, also known as Fes El Bali. We will enter the medina through Bab Boujloud, also known as “the blue gate.” From there, we’ll go to the world’s oldest university and mosque, Al Qarawiyyin. We will also visit the Madrassas of Attarine and Bou Inania, which are architecturally significant schools. Furthermore, we will visit one of Fes’ three tanneries, the most well-known of which is the Chouara Tannery.
At the end of an amazing day. Our overnight stay will be at the local riad/hotel.
DAY 3: Fes to Sahara desert via Ifrane and Azrou {470 km} 7 Hours.
Our Morocco tour will continue towards Merzouga desert, the highlight of all Morocco tours. The drive from Fes to Merzouga takes nearly 7.5 hours, including stops. Our first stop will be in Ifrane, Morocco’s little Switzerland. There, we will see the Atlas Lion Statue, which was carved by a German prisoner during the French colonization for his freedom.
We’ll make another stop at the cedar forest. We will see the lives of the Barbary monkeys, take pictures, and then depart for the Sahara Desert.
We’ll arrive in Merzouga after a few stops, including one at Errachidia’s dam and another in Ziz Valley. Our camel leaders will meet you at the edge of the sand dunes and take you on a camel ride across Erg Chebbi. Before they take you to the camp, they will make a sunset stop.
DAY 4 : Sahara desert to Dades Valley via Todra gorge.
We will continue our 5 days tour from Tangier towards Dades Gorges, making a few stops along the way. First, we’ll stop in Erfoud, where you can visit one of the mineral fossil museums. Second, not far from Erfoud, we will stop at an old irrigation system to show you how they used to water the oasis in the past. Following that, we will travel to the Todgha Gorges, Morocco’s grand canyons. Here, we will take you for a walk along the river that runs through the mountains.
We will drive through Dades town and then take the pass to the Gorges in the late afternoon. Then we’ll stop at the monkey fingers, which are mountains shaped like that due to wind and rain. We will eventually take you to your accommodation for the night at the Gorges. That brings us to the end of the fourth day of the Tangier tour.
DAY 5: Dades Valley to Marrakech via High Atlas Mountains.
After seeing the Gorges of Dades, we will drive to Marrakech, passing through many beautiful sites. To begin, we will travel about 40 kilometers from Dades to Kalaat Mgouna. The best site we’ll see on this day is the Kasbah of Ait Benhaddou, a Berber fortress. Many famous movie scenes were filmed there. For example, they appeared in Lawrence of Arabia and the British-American drama Gladiator. Being here is more than just a tourist attraction; it is also a filming location for historical films.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Planning a trip from the northern coast of Morocco down to the golden dunes of the Sahara? A 5 days tour from tangier is one of the most scenic and popular ways to experience the country’s diverse landscapes.
Below are the most common questions travelers ask when booking this incredible journey.
How long do we spend traveling in the vehicle each day?
Because a 5 days tour from tangier covers a massive distance, from the Mediterranean coast all the way down to the Sahara and over to Marrakech, there is a significant amount of driving involved.
- Days 1, 4, and 5 average around 4 to 5 hours of driving.
- Days 2 and 3 are the longest travel days, often requiring 6 to 8 hours on the road.
Fortunately, the scenery changes constantly, and your driver will make frequent stops for panoramic views, coffee breaks, and historical sights.
What should I pack for the Merzouga desert night?
The Sahara Desert experiences extreme temperature shifts. Even if daytime temperatures are hot, the desert nights can get quite chilly, especially between November and March.
Packing Checklist: Lightweight, breathable clothing for the day, a warm jacket or fleece layers for the evening, a scarf to shield against wind-blown sand, comfortable walking shoes, sunglasses, and high-SPF sunscreen.
Are the desert camps private, and do they have bathrooms?
It depends entirely on the package style you choose (Standard vs. Luxury).
Luxury Camps: Offer private, spacious nomad-style tents equipped with comfortable king-sized beds, private en-suite flush toilets, and hot running water showers.
Standard Camps: Usually feature shared bathroom and shower facilities outside of individual private sleeping tents.
What happens to our large luggage during the camel trek?
You do not need to carry your large suitcases on the back of a camel! Your heavy luggage stays completely safe and secure inside the locked tour vehicle with your driver. Before heading out into the Erg Chebbi dunes, you will simply pack a small backpack or overnight bag containing just what you need for your night under the stars.
